What is hip dysplasia?
Doctor will check baby for signs of hip dysplasia shortly after birth. If hip dysplasia is diagnosed in early infancy, a splint, brace or harness can usually correct the problem. The treatment does not slow down or hinder the child’s normal development and growth, nor is it painful for the child.
Hip dysplasia is the medical term for a hip socket that doesn’t fully cover the ball portion of the upper thighbone. This allows the hip joint to become partially or completely dislocated. Most people with hip dysplasia are born with the condition. However, the condition does not cause pain to the baby.
